Resumption of these notes this month is tinged with great sadness for the Secretary, sadness in which the class will join when the members learn of the death of George Moore in New York on August 31. A report of his death will be found in the Necrology section of this issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, or possibly in next month's issue.

A Dartmouth education apparently having given men of '22 what it takes to stay away from race tracks, your Secretary must report that he saw no members of the class but Andy Marshall during the past summer. And Andy did not go to a race track to find him but called at the Providence Journal office. Others might follow suit.

The Secretary spent the entire summer at one or the other of the four New England race tracks. After lunch in Providence, Andy Marshall went to Narragansett with him. Between bites of lunch and later between races, we discussed many matters pertaining to the further molding together of the class and also regarding, the 20th reunion in 1942.

Andy was on vacation in New England at the time, during which he included the wedding of Mrs. Marshall's brother in his activities. And while he was in New England, Gene Hotchkiss was expecting him in Chicago. In fact, Gene writes, he had been expecting him there since last June.

The Hotchkiss family spent the summer at a lake in Wisconsin about 90 miles from their home in Highland Park, 111.

In the very next cottage was Don Tobin and family, which consists of a wife and three young children.

Stan Miner and his family spent their vacation in Gageville, Vt., the old homestead. Frank Horan and his wife visited them there one day. The Horans spent the month of July at the Hanover Inn.

In June, the College distributed a pamphlet entitled "Report of the Committee on Student Publications: Abstracts and Excerpts." Frank Horan was chairman of this committee.

Secretary, 26 Walnut Rd., W. Barrington, R. I.
