Events of November 35-26 Week-end Program Promise Full, Enjoyable Schedule
THEY'LL BE HERE from Kennebunkport, Paducah, and Pelham- by-the-Bay—from the top side of the Mason and Dixon and down under from Tia Juana to Vancouver—East side West side and all around the town-Vermonters, New Dealers, and just plain Americanos.
In the words of Jack Childs '09, "Here you will find a reunion of the kind that only a National Pow Wow can bring forth —not a mere fifth-year cross section of the classes—but a gorgeous conglomerate of Dartmouth of all times, all classses, all sections— '38 rubbing elbows with '68, San Francisco hobnobbing with Pawtucket, '10 cheek by jowl with '09 and '11 as in undergraduate days when a Frosh looked up reverently to Sophomores—when Grand Old Seniors peered condescendingly down upon Pea Green Freshmen, Gay Young Sophomores, and Drunken (according to the ancient libel) Juniors."
THEY WILL ALL BE HERE-AND THAT IS THE REAL ESSENCE OF A POW WOW REUNION.
But there's more to it than that—Adventure— Excitement—Glamor. FOOTBALL —a game of the first magnitude. The Blaik coached Indians pitted against Thornhill's Stanford Reds. The East versus the West! A renewal of intersectional rivalry with the possibility of national honors hanging on the decision.
POW WOW BANQUET-Who can fail to thrill when 500 bygone glee-clubbers break out with "Men of Dartmouth" and the hills of the surrounding Bay "echoes the sweet refrain." Here on Treasure Island, in a setting that will bring millions of visitors through the West to beautiful San Francisco Bay in 1939 and through the spectacular portals of the Golden Gate International Exposition—a pageant of the Pacific! Dean L. K. Neidlinger '23, and Director of Athletics W. H. McCarter '19, and Professor Fletcher Low '15, representing the faculty, will be the speakers from Hanover. Stanford will be represented by prominent officials and alumni.
DINNER DANCE—at the Fairmont—atop Nob Hill. Stanford and Dartmouth football squads, undergraduates, alumni and their ladies from both institutions fraternize. A chance to meet and mingle with the boys who will play the game—to partake at a world-famed cuisine, to try out harmony around the common board, to dance to one of San Francisco's famous orchestras.
SPECIAL ALUMNI COUNCIL MEETING— But there's still another side to it and that is the opportunity afforded through a special meeting of past and present members of the Alumni Council and Board of Trustees of the College for serious, constructive consideration and discussion of all the college activities in which the aid and counsel of a loyal, enthusiastic, informed alumni body are, in the Dartmouth scheme of things, considered of the highest value.
CLASS AC TIVITIES—There will be class breakfasts, luncheons, cocktail parties, barbecues, and other divers events and divertissements. After all, what holds more interest and downright enjoyment than a reunion with old friends. Many who have been unable to return to their class reunions at Hanover will be able to get together again and rekindle memories of yesteryear.
It will be a busy week from the time the Big Green football squad arrives on Tuesday until the special trains pull out for Los Angeles late Saturday night. We are ready to welcome all visitors. Register first of all, upon arrival, at the Fairmont Hotel and after that we guarantee a full and enjoyable schedule.
