OUR LUNCHEON CLUB met every Tuesday all summer, with attendance holding up to the winter figures. Early in the summer we held a swimming party and soft- ball game at Bay Ridge, Maryland. Herb Woods '10, with Mrs. Woods, traveled to San Francisco on business, and hit all the high spots in between. Our secretary put in some time at the beaches in Delaware. Various members of our club came and went all summer, and the fall came on us so quickly that we forgot to get in our notes in time for the first issue of the MAGAZINE. Ros Magill '16, Undersecretary of the Treasury, was seen crossing the street armin-arm with Secretary Morgenthau upon the latter's return from Europe, Ros has returned to Columbia to teach. Warren Brunner '13, office layout specialist, has been filling in his spare time developing the distribution of produce from his Maryland farm.
A promising set of freshmen entered Dartmouth from the Washington area this fall, maybe this delegation will produce a successor to Jim Parks, varsity end. The whole group were our guests at a luncheon before they left for Hanover. Rumor all around Washington is that Jimmy Pimper '33 will shortly go off the deep end. Jim is captain of the bowling team in the local intercollegiate league; the team has lost one match and won one so far, this league by the way is one of the hottest in Washington. A large delegation went up to the Princeton game, and the game will furnish luncheon discussions for some time to come. We hear so much talk of Cornell down here you can't blame us for being anxious. Movies of the 1937 football season were shown at our luncheon Oct. 11.
Charming Walker '25 has gone north, after taking in the World Series, he and Bob Lyons see more football games than any southern alumni. Plans are already being made for our annual Dartmouth-Cornell football fiesta. For the coming year, we invite visiting alumni to lunch with us at the Annapolis Hotel any Tuesday at 12:30.
