OUR FINAL EVENT of the year (maybe) was a dinner at the Chevy Chase Country Club .... fifty-three attended, including two high school principals. . . . . Prof. Leon B. Richardson was the visiting speaker and did a fine job Has a graceful faculty of mixing humor and seriousness The importance of his discussion of curriculum and progress at Dartmouth left its imprint, as shown by discussions at our weekly luncheons since his departure Prof. Richardson also attended our weekly lunch the Tuesday after the dinner, and we had a chance to talk to him more informally Warren Kendall '99, Herb Woods '10 and Stirling Wilson '16 represented the Washington group at the annual dinner of the Baltimore Club .... a sparkling event, with the President of The Johns Hopkins as guest speaker Several of our group journeyed down to Richmond to the Virginia alumni dinner at the home of Dr. VanderHoof '01 Duke Barto, secretary of the club, has been seriously ill with appendicitis and bronchial pneumonia, but at this writing is on the upgrade, aided by the proverbial perfect spring weather of Washington, blooming flowers, trees, birds singing and whatnot No plans for the summer on foot yet, but several members have suggested a continuance of the summer roughhouse picnics of the type staged at Warren Bruner's ' 12, farm two years ago Meantime we'll continue to hold forth at the Harrington every Tuesday at 12:30 All Dartmouth men on business or other trips to Washington during the summer are cordially invited to meet in our air-cooled private dining room.
