SINCE THE LAST issue of the "Newsletter" touch football has come to a finish with a thrilling series of play-off games and a final that rivalled any seen on the campus for the past few years. With the close of the regular season seven fraternity teams entered the finals, representing Delta Tau Delta, Pi Lambda Phi, Zeta Psi, S. A. E., Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Chi, and Alpha Delta Phi. In the final game, Alpha Delt gained an early lead and held it despite the furious passing attack of the Delts. Bill Carter and Jack Kuhlke, both seniors, paced the Delt attack while another pair of '39 men, Joe Batchelder and Frank O'Brien, led the Alpha Delts.

In the dorm matches Middle Fayer and College mowed down all opposition to gain the finals. In this game the previously unbeaten and unscored-on Middle Fayer group was overwhelmed by the short passes and "deep reverses" of the boys from College. It was one of the most dazzling attacks ever seen on the campus. However, it failed the boys when they played the Class of 1940, winners in their division. The juniors won out by a score of 18-0 with Johnny Crandall doing most of the work. This meant that the juniors had earned one of the final berths in the grand play-off for all intramural winners. Alpha Delt, the fraternity winner, moved into the other spot by trimming second-year Tuck, graduate school champs, and the recreation champions from Chick Evans' group on Chase Field.

The College Final was played before a large crowd on the Friday afternoon of House Parties and was replete with thrills. The Alpha Delts got an early lead and added to it to make the score 22-6 at the end of the third quarter. Then, in the final quarter, the juniors, led by Webster and Crandall, ran through and around the AD's to score four times and take the game 30-22.
