Hanover Holiday
February 1938

The special lecture series for alumni which the College inaugurated last June under the name of "Hanover Holiday" will be given again this year, from June 20 to June 25, it has been announced by the faculty and administrative committee in charge of the novel educational plan. A program of eleven lecture and discussion meetings is being worked out for the week after Commencement, and arrangements are now being made with Dartmouth faculty members and others to present the talks which will cover diversified topics in the fields of the social sciences, the sciences, and the humanities.

In anticipation of a much larger attendance than last year, the subscription fee for the 1938 series has been lowered to $5.00. The Hanover Inn has again agreed to cooperate with the Hanover Holiday committee, and for alumni attending the lecture course special weekly rates will be available. Wives of alumni and other interested persons are invited to attend the series, and in order that whole families may come to Hanover for the Hanover Holiday week, special arrangements will be made for the entertainment of children accompanying their parents. This entertainment program will include outdoor games, hiking, camping, and instruction in swimming and canoeing, all under competent student councilors associated with the Inn during the summer.

The lectures, which will be given each morning and evening, starting on Monday night and ending Saturday night, will be informal in character and will be pre- sented by some of the outstanding and best-known members of the Dartmouth faculty. The afternoons and much of the mornings and evenings will be left free for the vacation activities of those attending the Alumni College. The Hanover Holiday idea met with enthusiastic response last June, and a greatly increased enrollment is expected by the committee this year. Further details about the series will be presented in next month's issue of the MAGAZINE.
