The Secretary's mail for the past week or so has consisted chiefly of letters newspaper clippings, etc., relating to the election of Edwin Osgood Grover as vice president of Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla. As if the Secretary was not himself a diligent reader of the New York Times, in which paper the announcement duly appeared! Please do not think that Eddie's own publicity bureau has been at work. Rather, it is evidence of how many friends Eddie has around the country and how concerned they are that his light shall not be hid under a bushel. The election took place on February 18. It is a new position, apparently created especially for our classmate. As vice president of Rollins College "Dr. Grover will assist thepresident in the fijiancial and development program of the college."
From the Secretary's standpoint, this appointment has not only recognition of ability and industry, but makes us all stand up a little straighter and feel that if Eddie, at his time of life, is given this responsible promotion, there is a good run left in the rest of us.
Incidentally, it may be noted that Eddie again pulled off his celebrated Animated Magazine. This time the newspaper account says:
"With a matchless Florida midwintersun as copy paper, with gentle breezesthrough palms, oaks and pines as humming linotypes, a score of brilliant intellectuals went to press yesterday afternoon before 7,500 subscribers withAmerica's only Animated Magazine atRollins College.
"Editor Hamilton Holt, president ofRollins College, and Publisher Edwin O.Grover, vice president of the college andformer professor of books, put the babyto bed for the eleventh year, giving hima bottle of typographical-errorless inkunder the make-up and make-ready direction of a staff of writers ranging fromEditor-Publisher Henry R. Luce of Time, Life, and Fortune magazines to nearbySanford's and Rollins' own Elvira Garnerof Juvenile Ezekiel fame."
