THE DARTMOUTH CLUB of Rochester hit a new high for the current season on Dartmouth Night when a record number of men partook of the festivities, and then found themselves in rapt attention to Bill Eddy, Honorary '19, our guest of the evening, whom our retiring president, Frank Hutchins '22, so graciously introduced.

Bill pointed to the perennial youthfulness and loyalty of the College. With no "white elephants" such as ineffectual endowed seats and prizes, the Administration pursues a constant analysis of all phases of college affairs, even though many of them may be in good order. He stressed the importance of the "big mind" as a counterpart of the "big heart" in insuring the faith of all those affiliated with Dartmouth. The insistence upon "freedom of intellectual expression and development," is one of President Hopkins' outstanding precepts. We salute you, Bill Eddy, for your inspiring words and for your continued interest in Dartmouth College!

We were especially pleased to see Burton E. Martin '33 who is now on Bill Eddy's English Dept. staff at Hobart College, Geneva. On deck as usual was "Brownie" Brownell '14, another Genevan. Dr. Ed Hainlen '19 stole away from his duties at the Tuberculosis Hospital, Mt. Morris, to be with us on this banner occasion. Rounding out the list of out-of towners were Russ Beckwith '31 and Harold "Red" Drake '32, both from Newark.

The Club officers for the coming year were elected as follows: president, Tubber Weymouth '26; vice-president, Fritz Lawson '26; secretary, Monty Phillips '27; treasurer, Phil Whitbeck '33.

Following the showing of the color movies, the boys rallied 'round in oldtime Hanover style, with bull sessions, harmonizing, etc., concluding one of the best Dartmouth Night meetings ever held away from the Campus.
