A RESUME OF the activities of the Southern California Alumni Association shows a rather full schedule of events. Late in the fall a dinner was given for the undergraduates and those boys about to enter the freshman class. The affair was well attended and the freshmen were given plenty of advice—both good and bad—to guide their footsteps in Hanover. Budd Schulberg '36 and Maurice Rapf '35 explained certain pitfalls designed for freshmen and the methods of avoiding them.
Zack Jordan '21 gave a fine talk on the place of athletics in the college curriculum. Judge Pacht, father of Rudy Pacht '25, gave a talk on a father's opinion of Dartmouth. Dave Bradley '02, chairman of the freshmen committee, told of the work of his group and congratulated his fellow committeemen on securing the largest delegation for the freshman class—12 in number- ever to be recruited from Southern California.
During the football season we met with the alumni associations of Harvard, Yale, Cornell, and Princeton to listen to the games played with those colleges. The meetings were well attended and more spirited than they have been in years. The peak of attendance was reached at the Yale game when 42 of our association turned out.
The Tuesday luncheon meetings have been changed to the University Club, 614 South Hope Street. The president of our association, Ashton Castle '24, was recently elected the manager of this club.
John J. Jordan '21 has moved to Los Angeles with his family and is associated with Griffith, Wagenseller and Durst in the investment business. Robert Allen '29 has returned to Hollywood and is now playing leading roles for Columbia Pictures Cor poration. Henry Leach '28 arrived recently to preside over the credits of the U. S. Gypsum Company.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of R. E. Abbott '98 who passed away recently after a long period of illness. He was a loyal member of our association and a true friend of Dartmouth.
