Louis S. Cox, recently appointed justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, was given a testimonial dinner at the State Armory, Lawrence, Mass., March 14 last, when between 600 and 700 persons gathered to do him honor.

The affair was sponsored by Companies K and M and Battery C Veterans' Association, the Lawrence Bar Association, and the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. During the evening the 102d Field Artillery Band and the Lawrence Square and Compass Glee Club furnished music.

Hon. Augustine X. Dooley presided, and among a few at the head table were Governor Charles F. Hurley, Rev. C. W. Carvell, five Supreme Court judges, eleven judges of the Superior Court, several associates of the Field Artillery, many local judges and members of the bar, together with representatives of business and civic organizations. A host of friends from all walks of life in and about Lawrence composed the large balance of guests.

Among the speakers who were laudatory in their praise of Judge Cox's long uninterrupted series of attainments and good example in the community and of his sterling qualities and ability in the legal profession were Gov. Hurley, John P. Kane, Esq., Hon. Fred T. Field of the Supreme Court, Hon. Abraham E. Pinanski of the Superior Court, Rev. Daniel J. O'Mahoney, Maj. Gen. Daniel C. Needham, Col. Wm. F. Howe, Dist. Atty. Hugh A. Cregg, and Rabbi Leopold Gutel.

Judge Cox was presented a suitable medal by the Veterans' Association, and was also given a beautiful grandfather's clock, while Mrs. Cox was presented with a beautiful bouquet of roses.

Judge Cox responded in his inimitable manner, thanking Gov. Hurley for the honor bestowed and his associates and host of friends for having expressed their affection and regard for him as exemplified by this wonderful tribute.

Mr. Thomas C. Ham is the latest grandfather of the class. A fine baby boy was born to Dr. and Mrs. T. Hale Ham of Brookline, Mass., in February. Dr. Ham is Dartmouth '27 and practices medicine in Boston and is connected with the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Guy C. Richards made a late winter motor trip to the mid-southern states. After a sojourn of ten days in Charleston, S. C., they spent a few days each in Augusta, Ga., and Southern Pines, N. C.

Prof. I. J. Cox, our much traveled and traveling classmate, is to give two courses in the University of Puerto Rico this summer. He will do considerable traveling about the Caribbean and in Venezuela and Colombia.
