Congratulations to Joe Eisaman for receiving the very first annual Mag Rep Award for Lifetime Achievement. This award was set up by the magazine industry to recognize top professional people in advertising. Joe began an agency with zero contacts, and no business, and selling ads door to door. His firm now is widely known and has developed the ability to build an image, as the firm has moved from oil, to liquor, to Disney, and many others, with great success. Joe continues to lecture and consult. He also has three daughters now in the advertising field. We feel sure there are many more success stories for us to relate. We'd like to hear from all our classmates, with life stories involving family or friends.
Sandy Gross visited his daughter in L.A., and as I recall a similar visit a few years back, there was a lot of sailing involved. He and Joe the Ad Man toured Beverly Hills and LA., including die QE-II, keeping die nautical motif.
Joan and Townes Harris, Helen and John Trethaway, with Joan and Andy McCulloch, all joined the Upper Valley Club on their Lake Sunapee cruise in August followed by a BBQ lakeside hosted by John and Helen.
And on a sunny morning in Hanover, yours truly and Prez Andy met to visit and chat, and we naturally headed for the Senior Fence as our office outdoors. And with that, an exciting class project surfaced. As we sat quietly, we took in a long view what's this? —something loose?—a loose bolt, a shaky rail? Nothing seriously amiss, but an idea occured. Perhaps our class project could be a rehab job on the Senior Fence. We inquired with building and grounds people, to find that, yes indeed, a support project for the Senior Fence would be much appreciated. To us it seems an exciting part of College history, that the class of '97 (1897) donated the Senior Fence, and we, the 50 year class, can help rejuvenate that traditional seat about 100 years later. It is in the works now to study and define what's needed, to come up with numbers to do the job, and to present to a meeting of class officers. Let's see what happens. Meanwhile, please come and try out the Senior Fence for size and comfort.
Now we are in for some good news: Don Page, who has served as a roving photog at reunions and minis, has agreed to fill the role of class secretary, following the late and really great Ed Grady. With our hats off to Ed, our hands are out to Don, as he begins to pick up this column next month. You can contact Don at home at 21 Alva St., East Greenbush, NY 12061-2027. Don will need lots of notes, tall tales, stories, comments, and encouragement, and we are the ones for that job. See you soon.
