THIS YEAR'S ANNUAL dinner turned out to be the duckiest affair in the club's history .... held at the Wyomissing Club, Reading, in the "Duck Room." on Monday evening, April 4. The get-together was in honor of Professor Herb West '22 and undergraduates home for Easter vacation. We were also signally honored by having at the head table John Young Sr., father of Jack Young '37 and Court Young 4jJ and himself an honorary member of the Class of '36 .... undergrads able to make the party, besides Court Young, were Bob Clymer '39, Jim Carpenter '40 and Al Sapiel '40, the latter spending the holidays with Jim Carpenter; prospective-freshmanfor-this-fall Martin Kleckner Jr., Allentown boy now at The Hill, Pottstown, also made an excellent impression on everyone. ... Herb West, professor of Comp. Lit. on Hanover Plain, gave a grand talk on the more purely educational as well as administrative and athletic doings and plans of the College, bringing us right up to the minute. We commend Herb without reservation to any alumni group desiring to hear a first class speaker and a regular fellow representing the younger men on the faculty. Other sons of the College on hand for the dinner were Val Klopp '09, Hugo Gumbart '16, Bob Ritter '18, Al Zulick '18, H. D. (Shorty) Gray '19, Charley Stickney '21, Andy Marshall '22, Carl Simonds '24, Bob Simonds '25, Walt Bowlby '27, King Badger '29, Dick Kuhns '29, Milt Shultz '30, Frank Tragle '30, Jim Rick '31, Walt Ziegenfuss '32, Jack Loose '33, Bill Breitinger '37, Carl Erdman '37.

PERTINENT PERSONAL PARAGRAPHS—Pres. A. Marshall at the dinner released the make-up of his new Committee on Secondary Schools, which comprises Harvey Gray '19 Chairman; Hugo Gumbart '16; Jim Rick '31, and Bill Bucher '32. Wedding bells are about to sing a joyous note for Milt Shultz '30, whom we anticipate will be doing Havana—and not unaccom- panied—by the time you read this column. Duffy Karnan '17 is being transferred to upstate New York by his Sinclair lubricating oil outfit, a grand promotion and one well deserved .... while we dislike losing Duffy, a great Dartmouth man and a member of this association's Executive Committee, we sincerely wish him the best of everything in the new set-up.
