Rev. Samuel A. Barrett, who retired from active service in the ministry some time ago, is residing at 2217 Garland Ave., Detroit, Mich., in which city he had his last pastorate.

Sam, who is a descendant of one of the prominent families of Vermont, being one of the sons of the late Hon. James Barrett, one of the former justices of the Vermont Supreme Court, was one of the more active members of our class while in college and has always been much interested in his Alma Mater.

In answering a recent communication in which I told him that I had been "in the dumps" for about eight weeks this last winter, he says:

"I have been there for three years, during which time there have been two 'spells' in the hospital. I am somewhat improved, for which I am sincerely thankful, even though I cannot expect to regain full health and vigor. This condition puts a crimp into my former activities. Though I feel fairly well, yet my strength is limited so that I cannot go ahead and do things as I would like to. Nevertheless, I am glad that I can still take a short ride in my automobile, which I do when weather and other conditions are favorable.

"It looks as though my traveling days are over, at least the strict and limited diet which was prescribed at the hospital makes it advisable (I suppose I might say necessary), to remain at home, where the requirements can be properly attended to.

"I deeply regret that these conditions interfere with my meeting the boys who may be able to gather, for surely it would be a great pleasure to see and greet them.

"I do not take the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, but my son does and brings it to me, so that I have the benefit of it.

"Perhaps you may be interested to know that on November 23 last, Mrs. Barrett and I celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of our marriage. In observance of this, our oldest son, Arnold L., Dartmouth '10, and his wife invited a limited number of friends to a dinner in one of the club houses of the city. The room and tables were decorated with a beautiful arrangement of yellow chrysanthemums in recognition of the 'Golden Wedding.' It was a most enjoyable occasion, long to be remembered."

MRS. GRACE (KNIGHT) ROBERTSON, wife of Samuel W. Robertson, died at their home, 2119 Hollister Ave., Santa Barbara, Calif., Friday, April 8, from a sudden heart attack.

She was born at Franconia, N. H., June 26, 1861, and was married to Samuel W. Robertson at St. Johnsbury, Vt., November 26, 1883, and there was born to them one son, Alfred W. Robertson, Dartmouth nongraduate 1911, who is at present a prominent member of the California General Assembly.

The funeral services were held on Monday, April nth last.
