G. R. Clark and Mrs. Clark of Davenport, lowa, changed their habit of spending their summers in New England with headquarters at Windsor, Vt., and remained at home last summer. They discovered that their house in Davenport had been somewhat neglected during the periods of their summer sojourn in the East, and needed attention; and to this renewal, certainly an interesting task, as they found out, the summer was given.

In a late summer issue of the RuralNew Yorker (a publication Hardison and Piper have taken for a number of years) there appeared an extended and very interesting account of a "Foster" house and farm situated in southern New Hampshire; the communication contributed by Herman Foster. The account had reference to conditions sixty years and more ago, and Hardison suggested that John Foster '76, may have had some relationship with the Foster family mentioned. This proved to be the fact; the account was of John Foster's boyhood home; and Herman Foster is a younger brother with whom an interesting contact has been established.
