THE ANNUAL FALL meeting of the Dartmouth Alumni Council was held at the Dartmouth College Club in New York City on November 3, with Warren C. Kendall '99 of Washington, D. C., presiding.

The following members of the Council were present at the meeting: George C. Clark '99, Plymouth, N. H.; Warren C. Kendall '99, Washington, D. C.; Luther S. Oakes '99, Minneapolis; Leon B. Richardson '00, Hanover; Morton B. French '03, New York City; Charles G. Milham '06, Williamsburg, Va.; William D Knight '08, Rockford, 111.; Thomas A. Foster '10, Portland, Me.; Harold P. Hinman '10, Canaan, N. H.; Thomas D. Cunningham '13, Denver, Colo.; Sigurd S. Larmon '14, New York City; Richard E. Pritchard '14, New Britain, Conn.; Sumner B. Emerson '17, New York City; Bill Cunningham '19. Boston; Edward E. Martin '19, New York City; J. William Embree Jr. '21, Chicago; John W. Hubbell '21, New York City; John E. Foster '23, New York City; Sidney C. Hayward '26, Hanover; William R. Abbott Jr. '27, Chicago; and Thomas B. Curtis '32, St. Louis, Mo.

Former Council members present were Willard G. Aborn '93, Clarence W. McKay '93, Horace G. Pender '97, Frederick H. Leggett '98, Joseph W. Gannon '99, Ernest M. Hopkins '01, David J. Main '06, William J. Minsch '07, Laurence M. Symmes '09, Henry M. Haserot '10, Warren C. Agry 'll, John C. Sterling '11, Richard Remsen '12, and Lloyd K. Neidlinger '23.

Several officers of the College were present and took part in the discussions of the meeting. They included William H. McCarter '19, director of athletics; Dean Lloyd K. Neidlinger '23; Dean Robert C. Strong '24; Albert I. Dickerson '3O, executive assistant to the President and executive secretary of the Alumni Fund; Charles E. Widmayer '3O, director of the News Service; Davis Jackson '36, College adviser to fraternities and business manager of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE; and Prof. Francis J. A. Neef, director of the Personnel Bureau.

PRESIDENT HOPKINS PRESENT

President Hopkins was the guest of the Council at luncheon and spoke about College affairs at the afternoon session. Other guests and speakers were Dean E. Gordon Bill, who described the work of the office of the Dean of the Faculty, and William H. Coulson of New York, who spoke about the proposed organization of fathers of Dartmouth men as "Friends of Dartmouth." John W. Knibbs Jr., president of the Dartmouth Club of New York, was also present as a luncheon guest.

Reports to the Council were made by Mr. Kendall, for the executive committee; Karl R. Maerker 'lO, whose report for the nominating committee was read in his absence; Mr. Pritchard, for the Committee on Alumni Projects; Mr. Curtis, for the Committee on Admissions and Schools; Mr. Emerson, for the Alumni Fund Committee; Mr. Abbott, for the Vocational Guidance Committee; Mr. Knight, for the Athletic Council; Mr. Hinman, for the Committee on Class Organization; Mr. Curtis, for the Special Committee on Redistricting; Mr. Larmon, for the Committee on Class Gifts to the College; Bill Cunningham, for the Special Committee on Public Relations; and Mr. Thomas D. Cunningham, for the Committee on Resolutions. Mr. Minsch, who is directing the gifts and endowments program for the Trustees and the Council, was also called upon for an informal report on the work of his group.

At the close of the afternoon meeting members of the Council, former members, guests and their families attended a reception and supper in the Alumni Council's honor at the New York home of Mr. and Mrs. Basil O'Connor 'l2.
