THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES of the College, at its annual fall meeting in Hanover on October 27, devoted itself largely to routine financial matters, including the Treasurer's report for 1938-39 and the budget for 1939-40. The Board approved promotions for six members of the Medical School faculty; ratified three appointments to the same faculty; and awarded the bachelor's degree, as with the Class of 1939, to 13 men.

Faculty promotions were voted as follows: John P. Bowler '15, from instructor in Anatomy to Professor of Surgery; John F. Gile '16, from instructor in Anatomy to Professor of Clinical Surgery; Colin C. Stewart III '23, from instructor to assistant professor of Physical Diagnosis and Pediatrics; John A. Coyle '24, from instructor in Ophthalmology to assistant professor of Anatomy and Ophthalmology; Leslie K. Sycamore '24, from instructor in Roentgenology to assistant professor of Anatomy and Roentgenology; and John J. Boardman, from instructor to assistant professor of Anatomy and Obstetrics.

Ratification was given to the appointment to the Medical School faculty of Richard G. Chase '38 as instructor in Physiological Chemistry, Radford C. Tanzer '25 as instructor in Anatomy, and Robert H. Peckham as research fellow in Physiological Optics at the Dartmouth Eye Institute, with the rank of instructor.

The bachelor's degree, as with the Class of 1939, was voted by the Board to John N. Blandy, Wesley D. Goding, John C. Haartz Jr., William A. Harty Jr., Harriman Jones, John T. Leslie, Walter B. Magee Jr., LeRoy E. Middleworth Jr., William N. Mulkie, Baxter C. Prescott, Robert B. Richman, Earle W. Robinson, and A. Wayne Shrodes.

Standing committees of the Board of Trustees for 1939-40 were announced by President Hopkins as follows:

Executive Committee—Lewis Parkhurst '78, chairman; President Hopkins, Edward S. French '06, and Dr. John F. Gile '16.

Committee on Degrees—Philip S. Marden '94, chairman; President Hopkins, John R. McLane '07, Victor M. Cutter '03, and Dr. Arthur H. Ruggles '02.

Committee on Investments—John R. McLane '07, chairman; President Hopkins, Clarence B. Little '81, William W. Grant '03, William J. Minsch '07, Mr. Cutter, and Mr. French.

All members of the Board were in attendance, except Dr. Gile and Governor Francis P. Murphy of New Hampshire, exofficio member.
