BY OPERATING Station WHEE, the voice of Wheeler Hall, Seth Washburn '43 of Orange, N. J., has provided his dormitory mates with private programs and a lot of fun this fall. He plays.records by means of a commercially made wireless phonograph with a small AC-DC motor, and has a microphone attachment for interjecting frequent chatter. The programs on 1520 kilocycles are heard only within the dormitory.
Station WHEE specializes in swing records and will play any request number when the request is accompanied by the record. Studio audiences and "sponsored programs" are a regular feature of the Wheeler Hall network.
Disclosure of Station WHEE brought word from the other side of campus that Station WHIZZ, the voice of all the Massachusetts, was providing similar entertainment for North, South and Middle Massachusetts Halls. Station WHIZZ, operated by Richard Chadwick '43 of Portland, Me., does not confine itself to swing, but goes in heavily for classical music, especially Wagner and Tschaikowsky.
