The Hardisons left Wellesley Hills, Mass., for DeLand, Fla., by auto, December 7. The trip of fourteen hundred miles was made leisurely, without mishap, delay, or inconvenience of any sort. On reaching their destination they took possession of the house they had occupied the year before, for a four months' stay. Mrs. Adelaide Anderson, who had reached DeLand a few days earlier, called upon them on their arrival. Among their early experiences was a torrid wave which necessitated a change to summer garments. Last year among their best experiences were long rides over the smooth level roads. These doubtless will be repeated. One hears very little about the St. John river as a route to north-central Florida. The car's the thing.

Fennel in a recent letter mentions the Green Mountains as a barrier against the hurricane. There was comparatively little hurricane destruction in western Vermont.

Hunt writes of a grandson who is disappointed that he does not wake in the night to get the slight (Los Angeles) earthquake shocks, his grandfather being more fortunate.
