The latest from Browne is a printed bulletin, dated January 1, 1939, from the Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington. We recall that he is there because of an amputated leg, and that his home address is 2013 New Hampshire Ave. He writes of his Christmas presents and his many greetings from friends. We can only quote briefly:
"All of these correspondents and generous donors are aware of my infirmities, which prevent my writing except laboriously and illegibly with a lead pencil. Accordingly, as a substitute for personal replies I am broadcasting this bulletin.
"I am still confined at Sibley Hospital because the manufacture of my permanent artificial leg is not completed and I shall have to learn to walk with it before my doctor will let me go home."
A recent letter from Brooks that he is proceeding with the regular routine of his business in Missoula, Montana, instead of going South as he has done for several years past; from Foster that he left for Paramaribo, Dutch Guiana, December 30; and from Ryder that he left his business headquarters in Niagara Falls December 26, for a stay of three or four months in Honolulu. We note also concerning Foster that his home address in Norwalk, Conn., is now 17 Arch St., not 13.
