THE tentative program released by the Secretary's Office for this year's Commencement, June 16 to 18, calls for the holding of the final Commencement exercises on Sunday evening at 6 instead of on Monday morning, as has been the custom for several years. This change was voted by the Board of Trustees last fall as a matter of convenience to all participating in the Commencement activities, particularly the reuning alumni who have found it difficult to remain over for the Monday morning exercises.
Despite the hurricane destruction, the Bema has been tentatively announced as the scene of both the final exercises and the Baccalaureate address Sunday morning by Dean Willard L. Sperry of Harvard Divinity School. In case of rain, Rollins Chapel will be used for the Baccalaureate and Webster Hall for the Commencement exercises.
Other changes in the Commencement program shift the Class Day program from Saturday afternoon to Friday afternoon and the traditional baseball game from Saturday morning to Saturday afternoon. The alumni parade will precede the annual Alumni Association meeting in the gym, following which an outdoor buffet luncheon for alumni, faculty and seniors will be served on the gym lawn. The reception by President and Mrs. Hopkins will be held on Friday evening as usual and will be followed later that night by the Commencement Ball.
The performance by the Dartmouth Players and the concert by the Glee Club will be presented together in Webster Hall on Saturday night. Concerts by the Dartmouth Band are scheduled for early Saturday evening and late Sunday evening. Other parts of the tentative program include the Thayer School alumni meeting Friday afternoon, the Medical School graduation exercises and alumni meeting Friday evening, the Phi Beta Kappa meeting Saturday morning and fraternity reunions Saturday afternoon. The Board of Trustees will hold its annual Commencement meeting on Thursday evening, June 15, and the Alumni Council will meet both at that time and on the following morning.
The class of honor among reuning alumni this year will be 1889, the Fifty Year Class. Other classes holding reunions are 1894, 1899, 1904, 1909, 1914, 1919* i924. 1929> and >934-
