The address of Tommie and Mrs. Harris for the winter is North Gate Inn, Tucson, Arizona, where they will welcome visits or letters from Dartmouth friends. Before leaving for Arizona Tommie and his daughter, Mrs. Barton, called on Billie and Mrs. Newton and also upon Fairbanks and his daughter, all of whom they found well.
After 50 years devoted to the practice of the specialty of Oto-laryngology, Dr. Harris has retired from practice and was guest at a dinner given in his honor by former students and professional friends. The directors of the Jennie Clarkson Home for Children, whose president Tommie had been for many years, also gave him a dinner. '86 gives three cheers for Tommie.
A FRIEND OF CHILDREN
The Secretary expects to attend a White House Conference on Children in a Democracy in January. This is the fourth White House Conference on children. The Secretary attended those held in 1909 and 1930, and had charge of some New York meetings of the 1919 Conference. In 1909 we discussed only what we could do for dependent children and in 1930 what we could do for Every Child. In 1940 we are asking not only what can Democracy do for Children, but also earnestly inquiring What Can Children do for our Democracy?
