1904-1905 FOR LAW AND ORDER The New York Times of December 10 says:

"COLLEGES BAR BROWDER

"Earl Browder, executive secretary of the Communist party in the United States, will not be permitted to speak at New York University although he has the invitation of an undergraduate group to make an address there on Tuesday, it became known last night after a series of student Conferences.

"This was made clear when Dr. Harry Woodburn Chase, chancellor of the university, issued a formal statement at his residence at 2 Fifth Avenue last night denying permission for Browder's speech." The same article recorded the fact that Browder had been barred from Cornell. Hurrah for Rufus '05 Day.

"LEVERONE HEADS SPEAKERSFOR MANAGER PLAN

"The Chicago city manager committee announces that Louis E. Leverone, vice president of Stein, Hall Manufacturing Company, 2841 South Ashland Avenue, had been named new chairman of the committee's speakers' bureau.

"Mr. Leverone, former chairman of the legislative committee and a director of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, has been interested, but not especially active, in the city manager movement for several years.

" 'More recently, however,' he said in an interview, 'I came to believe that businessmen, for their own protection as well as the sincere desire for the betterment of their city, must get into such a movement as this. It is the healthiest idea in Chicago today.' "

Grandpa Mower's monthly report says, I hope that "Butch" as of January 12, 1940,11½ pounds, dripping wet—will wcontinuehis present predilection for Dartmouth. Heought to make some tackle in 1960 or there-abouts.

Sid is in the office today dividing his attention between business, movies, and tripsto the Parker House. We both send youlove and kisses. That last sentence gave me a real boost; to think that these two tottering grandfathers should stop on their endless trip from somewhere to the Parker House to send that message of affection, so worded, indicates that I have reached real secretarial perfection.

Ginn and Company—long time Dartmouth bulwark in Boston changed its business organization from a partnership to a corporation on December 20th last, with Henry H. '90 Hilton of Chicago, Ned Robinson, and Ned '03 Kenerson among the six incorporators. Mr. Hilton is President, and Robbie, Treasurer.

"Mele kaliki maka" from Harry Muchmore to you all—his address is 983 Prospect Street, Honolulu, Hawaii.
