This time of year (I'm writing this in late August) always brings with it a clear and simple reminder that summer is nearly over and that fall and a new school year are upon us - today Palmer C.D. Wooglin's prediction for Dartmouth's 1973 football season arrived in the mail Our peerless swami of gridiron gazing says, and thus the word is, 6-3 and, alas, no trophies, Ivy Lambert or otherwise. (I know that this prophesy sticks in some craws, but recall, please, that Woogie's last two prognostications of 8-1 and 7-2 were off the mark by only a tie in 1972.) He alsd wrote that Big Green fans are spoiled and will probably be unhappy with this record - "6-3 is a hell of a season; Harvard has had only three seasons better than that since formal Ivy play began in 1956. Let's count our Blackman Crouthamel blessings."
Per usual the '65 mail piles up in the summer months. Unlike most of this country's newspapers, we have much good news:

Here at home in Exeter I have become Phillips Exeter's Director of Alumni Affairs, a welcome change from the world of fund raising. Also still moonlighting as a basketball coach and a dorm master, so all of my hats stay well dusted.
All for now. Linda and I hope to see many of you at one or another gridiron site this fall. In the meantime, happy days and peace.
