We chronicled in the last issue a detailed report of the death from a heart attack of our classmate, Dr. Sam T. King of Baldwin, L. I., New York, which report came to us through a letter received from Classmate William I. Clarke Smith, who attended the funeral.
The sudden and unexpected passing of Dr. Sam was a great shock to us all, for he was with us at our last Class Reunion in June at which time he appeared to be in excellent health and Thanksgiving Day he dined with his family and relatives and apparently as well as usual.
Dr. Sam was one of the most popular men of our Class as well as in his home community and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all who came within the range of his cheerful and kindly personality.
In his death the College and the Class loses a most loyal alumnus. The New YorkTimes and Herald Tribune published quite extensive notices of his death.
"Will" Smith reports himself as being in excellent health and as he long ago retired from active business, his time is principally occupied in getting as much enjoyment out of life as possible and "travelling" is his great hobby. He has recently changed his address from The Hotel Tudor, East 42nd Street, New York City to 115 Vreeland Avenue, Paterson, New Jersey.
An invitation received from the Dartmouth Athletic Council to attend a reception to the "D" Men of the College in the Trophy Room of the gymnasium called for November 16th, came just in the nick of time to enable your Secretary to attend the Dartmouth-Cornell game, the most interesting and spirited exhibition of football that it has ever been our good fortune to witness. The victory for Dartmouth was a wonderful tribute to the superb coaching and splendid team work of that very able Coach "Red" Blaik who to our very great regret now goes back to the former position he once held at West Point.
