It appears that John Kellar has a new address, namely 407 Bywood Lane, Bethesda, Maryland. He writes as follows: "I am nearly 70 (he was—March 11); isn't it just too bad, but we have to make the best of it. As for me, I am still strong and hearty by virtue of a good constitution and plenty of hard physical work from boyhood." Owing to a bad storm John walked three miles to get to his office on the day he wrote. He adds, "There is a bit of high blood pressure to look out for. If I didn't smoke all the time I'd probably live to the century mark, but who wants to live that long." It is good to hear from John whose work has been of the greatest importance to the Government.
Am sorry to report that Selden is at St. Luke's Hospital, Amsterdam Ave., New York City. He suffered a heart attack and was removed to the hospital the latter part of February. The doctor and nurse attending him advised that he was coming along satisfactorily.
Lunched with "Joe" Merrill in New York early in March. He is looking and apparently feeling fine. He is the proud grandfather of a 3 months old girl, the child of Mr. and Mrs. Josiah L. Merrill Jr., an engineer with the Bell Telephone Laboratories. Josiah Jr. is a graduate of Penn State College, taught at the College 2 years, securing his Masters degree, and has been with the Telephone Company ever since. Mrs. Joe Jr. is the former Ruth Kidder of Portland, Maine.
McKay and Mrs. McKay are in Florida at the present writing, stopping at Ormond Beach Hotel until about March 15th when they will be at 127 Valencia St., Coral Gables, indefinitely, perhaps as long as good golf weather and comradeship prevail. Pelton hopes to see him.
IN THE SUNNY SOUTH
Your acting Secretary's trip to Florida brought about two very pleasant sessions with Pelton. Frank was looking fine and seems very active, and is very enthusiastic about Florida and particularly Miami as an ideal year round residential location. He has been in Florida since 1925 and in, or around, Miami since 1928. His principal business is Investment Trusts and he says he is as busy as he wishes to be. His son is also in business in Miami.
Was sorry I could not locate "Silver" Flint who I understand is somewhere in Florida.
Dr. Lilley Eaton D.M.C. '93 was my host on the east coast at his lovely new home, Ft. Lauderdale, and, by the way, we very much enjoyed a call on "Bob" Burnap '94, who is living in the neighboring town of Hollywood.
