As is well known, "The world will never have to call" etc. Some six years ago, the world called on Cappie Holt to be president of The Florence Crittenton League of Compassion. Cappie responded to the call, has been president ever since, and has just been reelected. A picture of him in that capacity appeared recently in the BostonGlobe. The League is a big organization having 65 homes in 38 states. It is the Massachusetts branch that Cappie is president of.
In passing, it may be remarked that '97 is peculiarly rich in presidents, and, for that reason, might like Virginia, be called the mother of presidents. We used to sing:
"Some day you may be president,"—and it has turned out that way.
EXETER ENGINEER
If you want to see Jerry Simpson, the way to go about it is this: In driving from Boston towards Portland, Maine, via Exeter, just as you have gone through Exeter and come out on the other side and an eighth of a mile beyond that, there is on the left a long lane leading up to the Towle Farm. That's where you will find Jerry.
After graduation Jerry worked for a while in the Census Bureau, then for a couple of years he ran an orange farm in Florida, and then came to Exeter where he has been in the engineering business. He is the same attractive, winning Jerry.
