Have just returned from our local Alumni Association's annual dinner at which Pudge Neidlinger discoursed on the state of the College. The largest class delegation was, of course, 1920. The following were on hand: Ed Bowen, Stan Conway, Ned Deßouville, John McAllister, Frank Morey, Geo. Novek and Pop Wilkie, down from Amsterdam.

All of us who have youngsters in school have followed with varying degrees of interest Prof. Robey's criticism of text books used in U. S. schools. Naturally the book publishers objected strongly to the Professor's allegations and appointed a committee to investigate. Harper Brothers is ably represented on this committee by one of our boys, Dick Pearson. I guess we parents can now relax.

Speaking of books, writers etc., note that Phil Kitfield is the author of The Futureof Highway Building in New England to be published in Convention Proceedings, American Road Builders Association.

The 16th annual Army and Navy dinner was held,in Worcester on March 18, under the general chairmanship of Ben Ayres. This is one of Worcester's most important Spring events.

Dot McGoughran has picked a job for herself as regent of the New York City chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A picture in a recent issue of the New York Sun shows Dot receiving from F. A. Gimbel, Managing director of Gimbel Bros. (N. Y.), six linen doilies made by Martha Washington.

The insurance boys continue to do well, witness: Rus Keep has been elected secretary of the Pacific Fire Insurance Company, the Bankers and Shippers Insurance Cos., of New York and the Jersey Insurance Company of New York, in charge of the automobile departments. Rus joined this insurance group in 1922 and was made assistant secretary in 1938 Clyde Bidwell was made a field supervisor, casualty agent department, of the Aetna Casualty and Surety Company. Clyde started with Aetna in 1919 and has been in Hartford since 1921.

A couple of new addresses: Lt. Bill Nelson, Battery G, 197 th C. A. (A. A.) Camp Hulen, Texas; Wendell Sigler, Transportation Manager, U. S. Stg. Cos., 10th St. N. W., Washington, D. C.

Charlie McGoughran writes: "Here's a bit of grist for your mill: "A. W. Gordon (Jake) who as a freshman established the college record for the 1/2 mile (1:55) reports he was on the coast not long ago, and had a very interesting visit with Zack Jake is returning to the Navy as a Lt. Commander March Ist. He will be in naval aviation, a branch in which he served in the last war and for 13 years thereafter. Will be sta- tioned at Pensacola, Fla E. J. (Earle) Thomson wrote that he will bring his Naval Academy track team to N. Y. for the Indoor Intercollegiates at Madison Square garden. He will be welcomed by G. S. Stone and myself among others P. H. (Bung) Roland just returned from a Caribbean Cruise with a red nose (sunburn and a clear conscience, no doubt).... Saw H. S. Baketell at Phila. recently."

Stan Newcomer and his wife, Grace, paid us a visit last week. In addition to his duties as Vice President, Consolidated Paper Cos., Monroe, Michigan, Stan is now General Sales Manager.
