The prospect of the first "white commencement" in Dartmouth's history has been dispelled by the decision of the senior class to have no graduation ceremony upon completion of the college course on December 12, six months ahead of schedule.
Seniors have been excused from all course examinations, and upon completion of their comprehensive examinations on December 12 they will be free to leave for their homes and war service. A class banquet, with President Hopkins as principal speaker, will be held that night, however.
The senior class was honored by the rest of the College on Sunday, November 29, at a Sing Out vesper service. Seniors sat in the traditional place of honor, and President Hopkins delivered the equivalent of his annual baccalaureate address.
