Sierra Hi! How did the eight alumni

Sierra Hi! How did the eight alumni in the picture happen to converge last August at Ruby Lake, high in California's Sierra Nevada? John R. Liebman '56 reports: "I was setting up camp on the lakeshore when two young fellas came up the trail looking for a campsite. Seeing my Dartmouth 30th Reunion windbreaker they introduced themselves as Neil Maher and Shep Kopp, both '86s. Then I introduced my son Scott and his roommate Terry Parker, both '85s. Not to be outdone, Maher and Kopp introduced their fellow backpackers, Greer Goodman and Liza Ryan, both '87s. As we were marveling at the odds of seven Dartmouth alumni from two separate groups meeting in such a remote spot, the occupant of an adjacent campsite strolled over and introduced himself as John Hamon '82. We immediately proclaimed the formation of the Dartmouth Club of the Eastern Sierra Nevada and scheduled a reunion at the site— for sometime in the next 50 years." In the picture Goodman and Ryan are in the front row; in the rear, from left, are Hamon, Scott Liebman, Parker, John Liebman, Kopp, and Maher.
