Oppose Draft Rider

THROUGH PALAEOPITUS, Green Key, and the Vigilantes, Dartmouth undergraduates early in November went on record against the Senate amendment requiring a year's training for all drafted men under 20. Their feelings were wired to Chairman May of the House Military Affairs Committee, who was asked to oppose the rider, which subsequently went down to defeat.

"We credit America's military leaders with enough intelligence and honesty to realize the foolhardiness of sending untrained men into battle," the wire stated. "Believing this, we think that the Senate amendment would only hamstring our generals at a time when speedy action is necessary for our success."
