Prof. Hull Honored
December 1942

DR. GORDON FERRIE HULL, Appleton Professor of Physics, Emeritus, has been signally honored by being invited to deliver the second annual Richtmyer Memorial Lecture in New York City on December 30 before the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Physical Society, and Section B of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He will speak on "The New Spirit in American Physics."

The first Richtmyer lecture was delivered at Princeton last year by Dr. Arthur H. Compton, noted physicist of the University of Chicago and former Nobel prize winner. The lecture is given annually in honor of Professor Richtmyer of Cornell, who died in 1939, after a distinguished career in the field of physics.

Professor Hull retired from active teaching in June, 1940, having reached the age of 70, but last year he was called back to take over the course of a professor who had departed for war service, and next semester he will again be teaching.

CHARLES N. HASKINS His death, on Nov. 14, ended a long careerwith the College as professor of mathematics and, more recently, as special researchworker at the Dartmouth Eye Institute.
