DECEMBER 1941 PROVIDED the alumni of our state with a wide variety of activities in which to participate. The first of these was a Bowling Get-together, the second an alumni-undergraduate luncheon with Coach Ozzie Cowles and his basketball team as guests, and the third the New Year's Eve basketball game between Dartmouth and Wisconsin.
The basketball game, as you all know, was won by Dartmouth by the score of 57 to 49. The boys in Green stepped right into the lead during the first minute of play and never relinquished it thereafter. It was a swell game throughout and made up for the heartbreaking 51-50 defeat of last spring.
The block of 200 tickets which were alloted to us were directly in back of the Dartmouth team bench. Red Rolfe '31 was in town and sat with Ozzie on the team's bench. Eddie Jeremiah '30 and his hockey players were also in town long enough to take in the basketball game. Herman Nunnemacher '36 did a mighty fine job of leading all the Dartmouth cheers that night and made everyone feel as if they were back in Hanover watching the game.
Other alumni and undergraduates at the game included Jim Hannan, Ev Hokanson, George Buffet, Augie Paeschke, Frank Frey, Art Davidson, Al Juergens, Clif Randall, Bob Ott, Jakie Nunnemacher, Phil and Dave Eckels, Will Pitz, John Sheldon, Tom Beers, John Wright, Hank Parker, Ed Schmidt, John Grant, Jim Lang, Wayne Eves, Bob Hobart, Gene Hotchkiss, Jocko Stangle, Goerres Hayssen, Roger Cantwell, Bill Mmehan, Joe Hirshberg, Reg Nelson, John Michael, Ernest Rice, Howie Ransom, Brad Brown, Tom and Rodger Trump, Jack Ryan, George Dreher, Bud Freeman, Jules Wachs, Ralph Hinners, Dr. Ralph Campbell, John Willetts, Bob Hamm, and Dave Wright.
