As reported by George Herman in the DFTD, the plaque in honor of all classmates who served in WW II is being installed this summer in the Hopkins Center courtyard. The bronze memorial pays special tribute to the 36 men who made the supreme sacrifice. The plaque will be dedicated around 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, the Yale game weekend. This event will make our fall mini-reunion unusually inviting. So get your reservation in to Vic Schneider and his assistant Bill Steel without delay.

I had a nice chat with George McCallum of Atlantic Heights, New Jersey. He had just celebrated his 83rd birthday (in June) with a visit to Mount Holly, Vermont, where he and his son, Alec, a landscape photographer, did some fine trout fishing. George is a widower, as his wife of 49 years passed awayin 1991.Now George keeps in touch with his son and three daughters, one of whom is a 50-year-old marathoner now training for a 100-mile race.

Caught Dr. John Curran on the phone in Dennis, Massachusetts, where he and his wife, Bobbie, have lived since 1984. Bud graduated from Tufts Medical School and practiced surgery in several Massachusetts hospitals before retiring to Cape Cod in 1984. He and Bobbie are proud of their six grown children and 15 grandchildren, a few more grandchildren than the 10 that I can claim.

I called Wes Harper in Cheshire, Connecticut, only to learn that he has been struggling with Alzheimer's for the past four years. His wife Jane, is his caregiver with an amazing upbeat attitude. They enjoy walking and attending shows, as Wes is physically OK.Heworked for Revere Corp. for 26 years and enjoyed golf until his present condition prevented that activity. Wes and Jane moved (in June) into an assisted living facility, Elim Park in Cheshire. Their four daughters living in New England are very supportive and the whole family deserves our special thoughts, notes and prayers. Stay well and count your blessings.
