FOURTEEN MEMBERS of the faculty went on leave of absence for the second semester and five members returned to Hanover from first-semester leave.

Faculty members on second-semester leave from their college duties are the following: William W. Ballard '2B, Assistant Professor of Zoology; Irving E. Bender, Professor of Psychology; Edmund H. Booth 'lB, Assistant Professor of English; Ralph A. Burns, Professor of Education; James F. Cusick, Assistant Professor of Economics; John H. Cutler, Instructor in Spanish; H. Wentworth Eldredge '3l, Assistant Professor of Sociology; Arthur B. Meservey 'O6, Professor of Physics; Artemas Packard, Professor of Art; Lucien Dean Pearson, Professor of English; Harry Leslie Purdy, Professor of Political Science; ence; and Alberto Vazquez, Assistant Professor of Romance Languages. Another, Andrew H. McNair, Assistant Professor of Geology, who had planned to take leave of absence, remained at the College to help out his department when a member was called into the armed forces.

Faculty who have returned from firstsemester leave of absence are the following: John W. Harriman, Professor of Finance and Banking, Tuck School; John Hurd Jr. '22, Assistant Professor of English; Churchill P. Lathrop, Professor of Art; Maurice F. Longhurst, Professor of Music; and Charles J. Lyon, Professor of Botany.

Nathaniel C. Burleigh 'll, Professor of Industrial Management, Tuck School, and Francis E. Merrill '26, Assistant Professor of Sociology, both of whom were on leave of absence for the first semester to work in the civilian supply division of OPM, will continue in Washington during the second semester.
