THE SECOND ANNUAL Fall Dance of the Long Island Association was held at the Garden City Hotel on November 30, 1941. It was gratifying to see several undergraduates from Hanover and their ladyfriends with us that evening. Everyone danced until the early hours of the morning and had a very enjoyable time. Rudy Preuss '27 was chairman of the dance committee.
On January go, 1942 the association held its annual general meeting at the Hempstead Golf Club. During the evening Jack Shaw '27 and Willard Doyle '33 entertained us with stories. Young Ort Hicks '2l furnished interesting movies showing the coastal defenses of Great Britain in war time, and several other films.
The association has decided upon a plan to entertain Dartmouth men in military service on Long Island and would welcome receiving the names and addresses of service men in Long Island camps.
Ed Warnke '18 has offered the use of his big barn for a Spring Pow-Wow. The committee is considering the possibility of calling it the "D" Barn and is already making plans for our spring party.
During the evening Merritt Smith '24 and Tom Towers '36, along with Mr. D. Cords, father of Dick Cords '4l, honored us with their presence.
The annual dinner of the executive committee and their wives and guests will be held at the Hempstead Golf Club on March 6th, with due honors to Henry J. A. Collins 'l7, our retiring president who has guided the association successfully through the past year.
