Just as Coach Lyons made the decision to go for two in the Big Green's 14—13 comeback win over Yale at Homecoming on October 15, so the class has chosen to step up and create enthusiastic and stimulating events for '59s. This year's mini-reunion, orchestrated by Bill Boyle, was no exception.

The activities were extensive, but comfortably paced amidst mid-day temperatures in the sixties. On Friday night there were the Homecoming Parade and speeches in front of Dartmouth Hall and a glorious bonfire followed by an open buffet at the Dowd's Inn. Saturday morning saw the class meeting held at the DOC House, including fascinating comments by two presidential scholars whom the class is supporting: Sandy Hillel '96 discussing his work in the "Bibliography of PreModern Japanese Plistory" (with Prof. Steve Ericson), and Jeremy Longinotti '96, who clarified the much-misunderstood "Non-Invasive Measurement of Intra-cranial Pressure." (For further information, refer to Mel Brooks's classic movie, YotmgFrankenstein.) Then, a pregame tailgate lunch was held on the lawn overlooking Occom Pond.

The great win on the football field was followed by a cocktail party and dinner at the Dowd's which included Chemistry Professor Jim Worman and his wife, Professor of English Mary Worman. Jim was the first professor to guide a class-supported presidential scholar three years ago. His reports of her success since and his ability to upgrade his productivity with such students was inspiring.

However, the most exciting part of this glorious fall weekend was the interaction among a growing group of classmates who were discovering new levels of friendship and fun. The cast included John and Anne Baldwin, Pete and Arlene Barber (and Pete's golfing mother, "Tootsie"), Bill and Susan Boyle,Jim and Linda Burner, Chris and JaniceCundey, Ben Drew with his new bride, Johnand Donna Ferries, Dick and Sally Jaeger,Vic King, Norm and Marge Kurtz, Bill andTina Long, Jim and Vicki Lust, Stu Mackler and significant other Judy, Bill Morton,Howard and Estelle Munroe (and his wonderful mom), Jack and Laura Nason, Boband Dottie Nelsen, Charlie and Sue Pinkerton, Mary and Susan Sherwin, Barry andMaryann Smith, Latry andSheilaToal,Leeand Judy Wilson, Jim and Betsy Wooster,Jeriy and Susan Wunderlich, Alan andEmily Neece Ziegler, and others.
