THE MAKING OF AMERICAN DEMOCRACY" is the theme of the sixth annual session of Hanover Holiday, opening at the College on Monday evening, May 11, and continuing through Friday evening, May 15. Nine members of the Dartmouth faculty will deliver the series of morning and evening lectures, and President Hopkins is scheduled to start off the alumni college with a brief informal talk.

Because of the accelerated war program, the post-commencement Hanover Holiday this year comes five weeks earlier than usual. The general program of recreation, however, will be much the same as in previous years, and once again the alumni college will dovetail with the plans of classes holding reunions in Hanover that weekend. Hanover Holiday "students" not staying at the Hanover Inn, which has special rates, will be housed again in Hitchcock Hall.

The complete program of Hanover Holiday lectures is as follows: Monday, May II 8:30 P.M. PRESIDENT HOPKINS, Introduction. ARTHUR MCCANDLESS WILSON, Professor of Biography, "The Philosophy of Democracy." Tuesday, May 12 9:30 A.M. ALLEN RICHARD FOLEY, Professor of History, "A New World Experiment in Democracy." 8:30 P.M. ALEXANDER HOWARD MENEELY, Professor of History, "The Democratic Revolution of Twentieth Century America." Wednesday, May 13 9:30 A.M. JOHN PAGE AMSDEN, Professor of Chemistry, "Something About Vitamins." 8:30 P.M. JOHN PELENYI, Visiting Lecturer in Political Science, "Euope Looks at the United States." Thursday, May 14 9:30 A.M. WALTER CURT BEHRENDT, Lecturer in City Planning and Housing, "City Planning in a Democracy." 8:30 P.M. EARL RAY SIKES, Professor of Economics, "The Economic Side of Democracy." Friday, May 15 9:30 A.M. MALCOLM KEIR, Professor of Economics, "Organized Labor in a Democratic Country." 8:30 P.M. KENNETH ALLAN ROBINSON, Professor of English, "The American Dream, Past and Future." 10:00 P.M. Hanover Inn Dance.

A tuition fee of 54.00 has been set for the entire series of lectures. Those who cannot be in Hanover for the full week will be able to attend single lectures. The same rate of $4.00 applies to the Children's School, which is being repeated at the Hanover Inn so that the entire family can visit the College for the Holiday week. A special golf course fee of $6.00 for seven days has been established for those attending the alumni college.

Special rates at the Hanover Inn for five full days, Monday to Saturday, run from $6.00 to $15.00 per person, without meals. Dormitory rates per person range from $2.00 for one night to $7.00 for six to eight nights.

Notification of enrollment or inquiries about Hanover Holiday should be sent to Prof. Herbert W. Hill, director of the annual Holiday program.
