PRESIDENT HOPKINS returned to his office on April 18 for the first time since he entered Dick's House early in March to undergo a neuro-surgical operation on his back. His recovery has been surprisingly rapid and it is believed that the operation has been successful in relieving the painful back condition from which Mr. Hopkins had been suffering.

In continuing his recuperation Mr. Hopkins will not assume many arduous administrative duties prior to the Commencement and alumni reunion week-ends in May, although for some time, at both Dick's House and the President's House, he has been keeping abreast of College affairs.

President Hopkins is scheduled to deliver the main address at the joint graduation and Baccalaureate ceremonies on Sunday morning, May 10. At that time he will also give the valedictory to the senior class. On behalf of the graduating class, Charles M. Pearson '42, Senior Fellow and Barrett Cup winner, will deliver the valedictory to the College.

The following week-end, when alumni classes hold reunions and the Alumni Council, Secretaries Association, Class Treasurers Association, and Class Agents gather for their annual Hanover meetings, President Hopkins will have a still busier schedule. He will speak informally to the Alumni Council and will address the joint dinner of the associations and the annual meeting of the General Association of Alumni. The reception will begin at 9:15 and will be followed by the Alumni Reunion Dance in Thayer Hall at 10. President and Mrs. Hopkins will hold a reception for alumni and guests in Thayer Hall on Friday evening, May 15.
