Pennington Haile '24, assistant director of the League of Nations Association who has made a business of lecturing on international affairs in recent years, has been selected as an authority on international law by the War Department and set to lecturing to camps throughout the country in the Department's Orientation Course for enlisted men.
In its effort to see to it that every man who has to fight for the country knows what this war is all about, the War Department has made the Orientation Course part of every soldier's training. Officers lecture on the causes of the war and developments in the various war theatres since its start, daily news bulletins keep the men up-to-date on the latest war news, and civilians, such as Dr. Haile, who are considered authorities in their respective fields, talk to the soldiers on history, economics, psychology, geopolitics, and international law.
Dr. Haile, who taught English and Philosophy at Dartmouth from 1926 to 1931, recently took over as director of the education program of the Commission to Study the Organization of Peace.
