Dartmouth General

Washington, July 9.—The United States Army today is an army of specialists, a development made possible to a great extent through the untiring arrangements of the classification system by Brig. Gen. Willard S. Paul (Dartmouth '16) of Shrewsbury, Mass Although the classification includes the records of millions of men, it is operated in such a manner that on short notice the Army can determine how many mechanics, clerks, and other types of civilian technicians are available.

Worcester Telegram, July 10, 1942.

Nominated a Brigadier General on June 25, 1942, General Paul has served as Assistant Chief of Staff to Lieut. Gen. Lesley J. McNair, Commanding General of the Army Ground Forces, since the Army reorganization in March. The only other General on the Dartmouth military roster is Brig. Gen. Henry C. Pillsbury '02, commanding Lovell General Hospital, Fort Devens.

General Paul's son, Richard I. Paul '44, attended Dartmouth for two years.
