There can be no doubt that Dartmouth's fame as a leader in the field of physical fitness has spread from coast to coast. A recent report discloses that the Naval Personnel Center at Pleasanton, California, includes in its PT program a bit of muscle stretching known as the "Dartmouth Drop."
Originator of this Big Green tactic on the Pleasanton Pep Program ("Develop a PUNCH not a PAUNCH!") is It. (j.g.) Vincent Farrell, a Dartmouth man via the Indoctrination School route. As a chief specialist, Lt. Farrell was on the staff of the School during its one year existence in Hanover. In the Lieutenant's own words, the formula for the
"Drop" is as follows: "Left foot to side, arms raised forward to shoulder height. Bend forward from hips keeping arms straight so they move alongside of knees. Return to starting position."
