I hate to admit it, men, but if I don't get more "Facts" from you than I have been getting, I'm going to have to turn to "Prose" in order to fill up our allotted space, and if you don't think that will be rough you had better ask Professors McCallum and Cox. I have got some news, so here it is:

Lt. (jg) Jack Orr is on a destroyer in the Atlantic Fleet and has the address U.S.S. Parker, F.P.0., New York, N. Y. He is assistant first lieutenant, and just recently returned from Sicily where he participated in the invasion of same. He saw Lt. (jg) Chet Stothart in Oran and Irv. Jackson in Casablanca. Outside of them he has seen only 40's and 42's. Another member of our class that has seen no 41's is Maj. Richard F. Blanchard, who is squadron commander of the 30th Fighter Squadron, A.A.F.

Some o£ our boys overseas include Jupe Lewis who was last seen in Cairo, Egypt, on his way to India to join the Indian Army. Maj. John C. Meyer is flying a P47 Thunderbolt somewhere in England, and has been awarded the Air Medal.

Lt. Les Overlock A.A.F. is overseas in China with the 21st Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron. He has been in India and his A.P.O. is c/o Postmaster, N. Y., N. Y.

Dartmouth Night in Washington was spent in the Mayflower Hotel where over two hundred strong men of all classes met to reaffirm their loyalty to Dartmouth College. Those members of the class of '4l were Fred Begole, Pete Scott, Lee Bye, Fritz Cluthe, Bob Hamilton, and myself. Fred Begole was in town only temporarily, awaiting orders to some advance base. He passed out the hot hope that Hank Gunst recently became a proud pop and has had time off from his Naval duties to come home and see his son. Speaking of Fred's, I had a nice chat with Freddie Maloon. He was also here, awaiting orders to advance base duty.

Lt. (jg) Richard D. Hill arrived in Washington a short time ago after spending five months in the heart of the Solomons. Rumor has it that another Dartmouth fellow, Charles Hunt '42, just took over his positions. And I really mean positions. From my talks with Dick it sounds like he was surely in the thick of things. Dick deserves all the praise we can give him because he really picked a tough assignment when he volunteered for bomb disposal work, but he has come through with flying colors and now is looking forward to his marriage to Miss Martha Jane Plume, on the date of the Dartmouth- Princeton game, November 20, 1943. They will be married at her home in Mamaroneck, N. Y.

The commander of the South Pacific Area and South Pacific Force not so long ago cited Lt. (jg) George E. Brand USNR in the following words: "For skillful and effective performance of duty as a Fighter Director Officer on the Russell Islands on April i, 1943. On that date our installations were subjected to an attack by a large force of enemy aircraft, which force, as a result of the outstanding ability of Ens. Brand, was intercepted by our fighter pilots who were successful in shooting down sixteen of the attacking planes. His devotion to duty and professional skill in handling his important assignment were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service." (signed) T. S. Wilkinson, Rear Admiral, U. S. Navy.

Staff Sergeant Samuel M. Pratt is a member of the 368 th Fighter Group, A.A.F. stationed at Farmingdale, L. 1., N. Y. Georgie Seel is expecting to spend some time in this country after spending plenty of it in the Pacific area, flying for the Navy.

Fred L. Eaton reports a member of the class of '64 in Christopher G. Eaton, born July 17, 1943. You are really getting a good start, Fred. That's two now. Fred is advertising representative in the Mail Order Department of Sears' Roebuck, and Cos., in Chicago. He says he "bent an elbow with Alex Salm in the Palmer House a month or so ago. He was piloting some major to the Coast. Also saw Lee Cone and charming wife Ellie twice, while Lee was on his way to an advanced meteorology course at Chanute Field."

Ens. Donald E. Norton recently married Miss Virginia Elizabeth Jensen of St. Paul, Minn., and is now living at Peer Manor, 6146 Kenwood, Chicago, 111. Don is working hard in the Navy Aerology School at the University of Chicago.

John C. Richardson and wife, Mary Francis, announce the birth of a son, John Godfrey Richardson, on October 4. Jack is studying at Haverford College under the A.S.T.P.

"SOMEWHERE NEAR LONDON" with the Bth U. S. Air Force, Ernest Robert Breech Jr. '40 has been promoted to Captain. He is working on special bomber training programs.
