Julian Miller is at it again. As you may recall, Julian is the author of BreakingThrough, a book for women about freeing themselves from fears and generating a positive self-image.

This fall, Julian will be teaching a class called "Self-Defense at Dartmouth," a course which, in Julian's words, is "especially oriented to the needs of women and which has had great success both in Cambridge and in Hanover." With Julian's note came two photographs. One shows Julian holding a lady in a loose half nelson; the other shows a lady holding Julian in a somewhat tighter half nelson. Sorry, but the photos are not of sufficient quality to reproduce in these pages.

A course on self-defense for women is long overdue at Dartmouth and I know you join me in applauding Julian.

George Owens is the new manager of Smith Barney's Boston office and is vice president of the sales division. George lives in Weston and was previously with Eastman Dillon.

I had the pleasure to see Ed Gray and Becky here ill Dorset this summer. Ed and Becky are publishers of Gray's Sporting Journal, which rivals any magazine published today for its excellence. How did Ed get his start in fishing and hunting? Blame Mac Perkins, who was my roommate before Ed was my roommate. Many of our undergraduate outings were along the lines of the "Laugh-In" version of the "American Sportsmen." Come to think of it, they still are today. But I bet I was the only '67 who served wild turkey for Thanksgiving last year.

Joe Alviani was the subject of a glowing testimonial on the editorial page of a recent Boston Globe. Joe was the city's corporation counsel for just under 12 months. During that time he left an indelible mark on Boston politics, opposing overspending in the mayor's administrative departments and taking a number of stances that were not received well by the mayor. The Globe concludes "He did his job well."

Ellis Regenbogen has been named associate general counsel for Columbia Pictures. He was previously with Chadbourne Park. You can find Ellis and wife Sally, plus Scott, five, and Lisa, six months, in Manhattan.

Our class president and leader in matters of fund-raising is John Kornet who has recently joined Capital Management Sciences as vice president in charge of east coast operations. C.M.S. designs and distributes investment management software systems for the managers of fixed-income and equity portfolios.

Why not send John an early contribution to the 1981 Alumni Fund at 29 Nichols Road in Cohasset, Mass? And why not send me some news at the address above?

That's all for now.
