AT THE MEETING of the Alumni Council on November 12, Dudley W. Orr '29 of Concord, N. H., was placed in nomination as alumni trustee for' a first full term of five years. Mr. Orr will complete in June a partial term of three years. His nomination will go to the Board of Trustees for action in June. According to customary procedure Mr. Orr, as the nominee of the Council in behalf of the alumni body, will be elected unless other nominations are made as outlined below.

The nominee is an attorney in Concord. After graduation from Dartmouth in 1929 he studied in France and received the LL.B. degree from Harvard Law School in 1933. He has been a member of the New Hampshire State Tax Commission and has served as secretary of the Governor's Committee on Unemployment Reserves and as a member of the New Hampshire Planning Board. He is a director of the Northern Railroad and of the Mechanicks National Bank and is a trustee of the Merrimack County Savings Bank. Until recently he was counsel for the New Hampshire Division of OP A.

NOMINATING PROCEDURE

According to the constitutional provisions of the Alumni Association, the responsibility for_ nominating Alumni Trustees rests with the Alumni Council. Provision is made, however, for further nominations by alumni at large. The section of the constition dealing with this feature is quoted herewith:

"Said secretary shall also give notice, not less thanjour months before Commencement, and by publication in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, that the Councilwill nominate Alumni Trustee or Trustees to takeoffice on the first Monday after Commencement.

"Within two months after such publication inthe ALUMNI MAGAZINE any one hundred alumniqualified to vote for the Council of Alumni may filewith the said secretary a petition over their ownsignatures for the nomination of a qualified alumnusfor the office of Alumni Trustee. Said secretaryshall, as soon as practicable after expiry of the period for nomination by petition, send to eachalumnus qualified to vote, an official ballot containing the name of the alumnus nominated by theCouncil for the office of Trustee and the name ornames of candidates nominated by petition, as aforesaid. No voting by proxy shall be allowed in voting for Alumni Trustees, and the polls shall closeon June 10 before Commencement.

"If no candidates are nominated by petition asabove set forth, no voting for Trustees shall takeplace, and the alumnus nominated by the Councilshall be the candidate of the alumni for the officeof Trustee."
