The palm goes this month to Tom and Mrs. Keady whose two sons are in the service of their country. Walter '34, is on duty somewhere at sea as a lieutenant (j.g.) in the United States Naval Reserve. Dick (class of '44) is attending Officers' Training School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and hopes to receive his commission in February. Dick enlisted at the completion of his first year in Hanover.
All '05 men will regret to hear that Tom has recently had a very serious illness. We rejoice, however, that he has begun to recuperate. Drop him a word of good cheer at his home, 598 Main Street, Wakefield, Mass.
Walter B. Small retired from the investment business in Providence, R. I., on December 91, 1942. The best wishes of the class are extended to Walter for a very happy and fruitful period of leisure. His new address is 67 Slater Ave., Providence, R. I.
George Putnam, vice principal of Montclair (N. J.) High School, is very busy with the many increased burdens, such as the Victory Corps, placed upon the high schools, and with administrating the school in the absence of the principal for a month. George's linguistic versatility is again indicated in teaching Japanese conversation to thirty-two boys and girls in the Victory Corps of his school.
Fred and Mrs. Chase of Milton have announced the engagement of their daughter, Mary Pomeroy Chase, to Lt. F. Leon Foster Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Leon Foster of Providence, R. I. Miss Chase attended Milton Academy and graduated from Abbott Academy in 1940 and from Pine Manor Junior College in 1942. She made her debut in the fall of 1940.
Lt. Foster graduated from Moses Brown School in 1938 and from Harvard University in 194s where he was a member of the Pi Eta Club. At present he is stationed at Camp VanDorn, Mississippi. Best wishes of the class to Miss Chase and Lt. Foster.
The Merrimack County Alumni Association held its annual luncheon and meeting at the Eagle Hotel in Concord on Wednesday noon, December 30. We were fortunate in having Prof. Francis J. Neef, Director of Personnel and Officer in Charge of the Relations of the College with the Army and Navy, as speaker. Professor Neef outlined very clearly and understandingly present conditions at the college. Harry B. Preston and Doctor Andy MacMillan were the only '05 men present, in addition to Walter M. May, who presided. It was a pleasure to have Harry with us again. Herbert Rainie '06, was elected president for 1943 and Lawrence Duncan '37, was reelected secretary.
The new address of Thomas F. Eastman is Lake Fork, Idaho, where he is store keeper and postmaster.
Chester A. Grover is now at Westcliffe, Colorado, with the U. S. Soil Conservation Service.
Harry G. Dennison is in the real estate business at 40 Main Street, Freeport, Me.
Through the courtesy of Roger A. Dunlap, 1900, we have received information about the children of our late classmate, John Dunlap. George, of Franklin, Vermont, the oldest boy, has passed his screen test and hopes to enter the armed services Richard, of Franklin, Vermont, recently married Katherine Nevins and is at home on furlough after participation in the invasion of Africa. Clark, of Richford, Vermont, graduated from Green Mt. Junior College. His wife's maiden name was Winifred Rogers. Clark is now employed in a defense plant in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
