ESTABLISHMENT or THE Charles M. Stern Jr. Memorial Fund is announced by the College. A first gift of $100 has been made in memory of Ensign Stern '36 who was killed at Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941, and was the first Dartmouth man to lose his life in active war service. The principal of the Fund will be allowed to accumulate and allocation of it will not be made until after the war. The first gift to the Fund was made by a member of the Stern family in Albany, N. Y.

Already established within the structure of the Alumni Fund is an endowment in the name of Ensign Stern which now totals 11,264. The annual income from this Fund was credited to the class of 1936 in last year's Alumni Fund campaign.
