THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON of the Cleveland Dartmouth Club for prospective Dartmouth men, undergraduates, alumni, fathers and friends was held at the Mid-Day Club, Saturday, January ninth. To be sure, the Yuletide spirit was pretty well exhausted at this late date, but due to the late vacation period this was the most appropriate day for the luncheon. Apparently it was well selected, for sixty-nine men turned out to greet the new applicants.
Russ Treadway '24, newly elected president, presided very capably in his new capacity and introduced the principal speaker, Dr. Everett Baker '24, newly appointed minister of The First Unitarian Church of Cleveland. If Dartmouth College is in any way responsible for producing ministers like Ev Baker, we should have more theologically minded men at Hanover.
Bob Gilchrist '44, brother of Hart '31, and Jack '35, gave a very interesting and enlightening talk on conditions as they are at Dartmouth today.
At the annual election of officers in December, the following were elected: A. Russell Treadway '24, President; W. Wallace Mountcastle '22, Ist Vice Pres.; Geo. C. Fisher '30, 2nd Vice Pres.; Howard R. Schuemann '33, Sect'y; Robert C. Palmer '34, Ass't Sect'y; Lee A. Chilcote '30, Treasurer. Executive Committee: Charles M. French '24, Raymond M. Barker '23, Daniel L. Harris '17, Wm. F. Steck '31, and the officers.
At a dinner meeting of the executive committee at the Allerton Hotel Feb. 4th, plans for the annual banquet were discussed. A tentative date was set for Thursday April Bth. Any Dartmouth men travelling in the vicinity of Cleveland are cordially invited to attend. The exact time and place may be found by writing or phoning the Dartmouth Club of Cleveland, Union Commere Bldg.
