Seven more of our classmates have put away their civilian clothes, bringing the total in the armed forces to 118, which is quite a chunk out of a class with 410 living graduates.
"Tax" Connell, professor of Zoology and Parasitology at Dartmouth, has been commissioned captain in the Sanitary Corps of the Army.
Champ Webster became a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps on February 17 and has since been an instructor at Miami Beach.
Bob Rockhill received his notice to report the middle of March, but whether he'll be in khaki or blue cannot be determined before our deadline. His indecision may be partly due to pre-occupation with a more important matter, namely the birth of a daughter, Susan Erskine, on February 28, in New York.

Lt. Bill Whaley USNR is in Traverse City, Michigan Lt. (j.g.) Les Benioff is finishing his indoctrinaton at the University of Arizona.
Lt. (j-g.) Art Kneerim began active duty March 5 at the Student Officer Headquarters, Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla.
Jack Phelan was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant on March 3 at Miami Beach and reported to the Air Intelligence School at Harrisburg, Pa., on March 8. Attending school in Miami Beach with him were Dave Camerer '37, Phil Thompson '27, and others from Hanover.
TRANSFERS AND PROMOTIONS
Dan Hatch has been promoted from lieutenant to captain in the Army Air Corps Lt. Lanky Langdell and Capt. Barney Nova, of the Judge Advocate General's Department, are working in the Munitions Building, Washington.
Lt. Paul Annable of the Army Air Corps is on a confidential mission in Australia Capt. Pete Bennett is assistant executive officer of the huge Huntsville Arsenal, Alabama Clint Goodwin has been promoted to Ist lieutenant and is an instructor in the Tactics Department of the Armored Force School at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Pvt. Ed. Wheatley of the Air Corps is stationed at Santa Maria, California.
Capt. Jack Rose is the Officer in Charge of Visual Education, Special Service Division of the S. O. S., with his office in the Pentagon Building, Washington Capt. Milt Hoefle of the Army Medical Corps is at Camp White, Medford, Oregon Sgt. Herm Schnepel is living at the University Club, Albany, N. Y.; he is working for the Provost Marshall General Sgt. Phil Sherman is a classification specialist in the Air Corps, located in Richmond, Virginia
Lt. Don Solis is at the Naval Air Station, Richmond, Florida, after driving down from Boston with his wife Tom Talbot is now a senior grade lieutenant, on duty at the Philadelphia Navy Yard Lt. Charlie Gearhart started the indoctrination course at the Quonset Naval Air Station on February 22 Lt. Fran Young USNR is attending school again, this time at Fort Schuyler, New York City.
On the home front we have Dave McCathie feeding 13,000 workers; he is a division manager of the Steiger Industrial Restaurant Service, Elkton, Md Brad Parker is an inspector for Pratt 8c Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford, Conn Jim Walsh is doing experimental work for United Aircraft, also in East Hartford Dusty Griffin is a supervisor in the Military Contracts Dept. of Curtiss Wright, Columbus, Ohio Ben Heftier is an engineer in the Cycle-Weld Laboratories of Crysler Corp. in Detroit.
Monty Wells bemoans the fact his ulcers keep him out of the service, nevertheless, he is doing important work teaching radio and Morse code at the Brookline, Mass., high school Upty Bartlett has been with Ebaloy Foundries, Rockford, 111., for two years, making aluminum airplane castings.
Hank Walker is a member of the WPB Industry Advisory Committee for the carbon and graphite electrodes industry. Consequently, he spends much of his time in Washington Rappy Bavier is manager of the Industrial Engineering Dept. of the U. S. Rubber Company's Ball Brand plant at Mishawaka, Indiana.
Jim Frampton's Stambaugh-Frampton Lumber Cos. is busy with war contracts in Youngstown, Ohio Bill Treanor is an attorney for the Union Carbide & Carbon Corp., specializing in labor relations.
Art Gow, vice president and factory manager of the Seamless Rubber Cos., New Haven, shuffles back and forth to Washington with great regularity like most everyone else. Being a manufacturer of surgical rubber goods they have kept at maximum operations and last month were proud recipients of the Army and Navy "E" award.
WASHINGTON DINNER
After a postponement, while Vic Hartjens scoured Washington for a place that would serve dinner to a group, the second '28 dinner in the Capital was held March 1, with the following present: Howie Chapin, Capt. George Davis, Bill Harris, Vic Hartjens, Lt. Lew Hutcheson, Woody Isham, Pvt. Paul Kruming, Wes Patience, Howie Rogers, Lt. Van Benschoten USNR, and a welcome guest from the class of '27—Norm Swift.
Bill Harris gave an interesting talk on his work as director of radio communications for the AngloAmerican Caribbean Commission. His reputation as an after-dinner speaker spread so rapidly that he was called upon the next day to do the job over again at the Dartmouth Club luncheon. Vic Hartjens expects to be in Boston for a few weeks, so Patience and Van Benschoten are arranging the next dinner which will be on April 5 at the same place—Hall's restaurant, 7th & K St., S.W.
