Craw Pollock was elected vice president of the Green Giant Company of Le Sueur, Minn., on January 27. He will be in charge of all marketing activities. Craw was director of marketing development for Campbell Soup Company. He had been vice president of C. A. Swanson & Sons, Omaha, before that firm's merger with Campbell in 1955.

Bill Wheland, University of Chicago professor, is busy seeing through the press a new edition of his "Advanced Organic Chemistry." His daughter Margaret is a freshman at Duke and son Bob is a freshman at Morgan Park High School in Chicago.

The Class will be saddened to learn of the death in January of three loyal members: Len Bohasseck, Thornton Klaren and Dick Smith. They will be deeply missed and the Class extends sincere sympathy to the surviving members of their families. John Lyman has been elected vice presi- dent in charge of business development of the Security Title Insurance Co. of Los Angeles. For the past sixteen years he has been associated with Dwyer-Curlett & Co., where he was vice president and loan officer. He is also a past president of the Southern California Mortgage Bankers Association and is currently vice chairman of the educational committee for the National Association of Mortgage Bankers. In his spare time John has been on the faculty of Stanford University's School of Mortgage Banking, summer session, and he is a past president of the Dartmouth Club of Southern California.

Jerry Pitts' brother, Father John Pitts, is the new rector of St. Denis Church in Hanover. Jerry retired from the Nestle Company two years ago, lives in Riverside, Conn., and is busy studying finance and economics. His son Jerry is married and has a son born last October; Jimmie is at Niagara University and Bob is in the Army.

Jack Kenerson's son Ted will be at the Amarillo, Texas, Air Force Base until late summer. He graduated as a Second Lieutenant at Colgate last June. His other son Bob is a senior at Dartmouth and planning on advanced study in romance languages.

Jack sees Red and Fonty Sanborn occasionally and says they are still full of their extended trip to colleges and prep schools all over the country that they took while he was on sabbatical from Phillips Andover. Red is entirely in Biology work there after a long period of teaching Math. His son Scott is a sophomore at Dartmouth. Red's love of the outdoors is undiminished over the years what with his skiing, mountaineering and birdwatching activities.

Late in January Chet Kellogg, vice president in charge of all insurance magazines for A. M. Best & Co., flew to St. Paul to address a Twin City gathering on "Pitfalls in Financial Statements." Shortly before that he was in Washington as an industry representative on the executive committee of the American Association of University Teachers of Insurance.

Bill Downing, Littleton, N. H., hardware merchant, is on what he calls a vacation in Cocoa Beach, Fla., from November 1 to May 1, but adds that he is in the construction business there. His daughter Rhoda is married and lives in Eau Gallie, Fla.

Ham Hankins, reelected mayor of Franklin Lakes, N. J., spends three nights a week and two weekends a month on borough business. Daughter Ann is a junior at Skidmore, Tim '62 is pledged to his dad's fraternity.

Jack Zellers' daughter Margaret is with W. P. Cotton Co., New York, in charge of Virgin Islands and Barbados Tourist Bureaus in the United States. Where did the Zellers go on their vacation in February? The Virgin Islands, of course. Jack commutes daily from Southport, Conn., to New York where he is Supplies Division sales manager of Remington Rand.

Wally Brownstone, owner of a chain of retail apparel stores, retired last year and says he is "collecting paintings - at least looking at them." His last vacation was to England, France, Italy, Majorca, and Israel in September and October, and he is planning another to Barbados.

Cud Gardner's daughter Judy was married in July to an Air Force man and is living in Germany for two years. ... Dick Brooks runs Sears Roebuck's paint factory in Greensboro, N. C., and finds time for fishing and gardening. Last vacation was to New England last fall. His daughter is married and his son is a senior at Asheville School.

Johnny Waters' last vacation was to Scotland, England, France, Italy, and Switzerland in the fall. His daughter Judy is a freshman at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Nancy is at Moravian Seminary for Girls, Bethlehem, Penna.

Dick Canton reveals that he retired (from the insurance business in Worcester) December 31, 1958 and says, "I love it." This past year' he was in Hawaii January-April, Bermuda in May and Florida in October. From January to April he will be in South America. Daughter Sally is a freshman at Vassar, Dick Jr. '57 is back from Japan and with Esso, and Bob '59 is in film work in New York City.

That far-roving salesman for the American Pad & Paper Company, Bob Reid, says his territory now includes Alaska and Hawaii in addition to all the western states. Last month he vacationed in Peru, taking pictures of the temples of the Mayan and Inca civilizations. Next trip is to Guatemala.

Van Curll says he is "trying to keep a sane mind, what with rockets whizzing around, filter cigarette advertising, and clothing four women!" He is planning a trip to Germany later this year to pick up a car. Daughter Adelaide is a sophomore at Swarthmore College, Jessie a senior at West Covina (Calif.) High with all the complications of a "steady" and Cindy is at Verde Valley School, Sedona, Ariz.

Assistant Secretary of State Lane Dwinell and Elizabeth had a month's trip to South America, Africa, and Europe visiting various State Department posts in a dozen countries. One of the highlights was in Moscow on November 7 where they watched the big parade from a very good vantage point. They also attended a reception in the Kremlin with the Diplomatic Corps and had the opportunity of meeting Mr. Khrushchev and all of the members of the Presidium, as well as other Soviet officials.

Two '28 daughters are at Bryant College, Providence - Barney Norton's Jean, and Linda Kent, daughter of the late Ken Kent.

Johnny Nixon was reelected to his fourthterm on the Newton Board of Aldermen. Hislast vacation was to St. Louis in August whenson Jack acquired a bride. Jack graduatedfrom Babson in December. Johnny and RedEdgar went to Hanover to see Red's son Billinitiated into Phi Gamma Delta.

Ollie Andrus has just been elected president and chief of staff of the Milford Hospital Medical Society. Ollie has been a practicing physician in Milford for 27 years.

I had the privilege of attending the firstjoint meeting of the Dartmouth Trustees andthe Alumni Council, held in Hanover Fridayand Saturday, January 22-23. I stayed withHerb and Mimi Sensenig in Norwich, arriving Thursday in time for dinner after an allday drive over icy roads.

Rick Rickenbaugh, Council president, presided very ably over the meetings and thebanquet. After the banquet Cal Billings,Chuck Bruder, Red and Chili Edgar, Rickand Hilda Rickenbaugh, Rupe and DorThompson and I found our way out pastEtna to call on Tim Campion and his newbride.
