THE FIRST GROUP OF MEN selected early in April for admission to Dartmouth in the Class of 1947 numbered 334, it has been announced by Dean Strong. This group, about one-half the size of that normally admitted around the first of April, was selected from a total of 1,200 applicants for admission to the College.

Members of the entering class are being chosen without any lowering of the standards of the Selective Process of Admission, Dean Strong declared. Men now being admitted to the civilian College are those whom Dartmouth would want to enroll as freshmen at all times, he said.

The final size of the freshman class which enters in July is difficult to estimate at this time. One factor that may have important bearing in the next two months is the Navy announcement that only part of the secondary-schoolmen chosen for V-12 training will be started off in July and that the others will be permitted to attend civilian colleges until November or the date when they begin Navy training.
